Substructure
The substructure is extremely simple and quick to install on wooden battens. The system is based on the Swiss SIA 232/1 standard for ventilated roofs. Consisting of just 2 basic elements – the hooks and the extruded aluminum water drainage profiles – the system offers unrivalled strength and durability. The effect of the tension and deformation forces due to the expansion of the substructure and roof do not induce any stress on the panels, since they are not fixed by means of clamps, but are simply held in the hooks.
Installation
Installation is quick and easy. The tempered double-glass panels fit into the hooks and can be easily dismantled for maintenance work.
Full integration
When building a new house or renovating a roof, the Suncell BIPV system replaces tiles and blends in so harmoniously with the building that it’s hardly noticeable.
Partial integration
The system’s flexibility means it can be adapted to any roof, even if the owner only wants to cover part of the roof. Panels made from ultra-matte anti-reflective glass blend harmoniously with other materials in the building envelope.
Historic buildings
The Suncell BIPV system with Terracotta panels integrates perfectly into protected historic buildings. During renovation, it’s the ideal solution for improving the building’s energy efficiency while minimizing the visual impact on its aesthetics and satisfying the requirements of the authorities in charge of safeguarding the built heritage.
Accessories
To meet roof safety requirements, accessories such as snow bars, snow brakes or safety anchor points can easily be integrated into the system.
Dummy panels made of cuttable composite material can also be combined with photovoltaic panels to adapt to particular roof shapes and to bypass chimneys, windows or other obstacles.
Finitions
All cladding and finishing is carried out in the same way as for a tiled roof, using galvanized sheet metal or copper. Suncell system drainage profiles act as drainage channels for perimeter tinsmithing profiles.
Tested in Switzerland for the Swiss market
The Suncell BIPV system withstands extreme loads upto 10’000 Pa/m2 (approx. 1 ton snowload/m2) without any damage to panels or cells. It has been tested by the SUPSI laboratory, the only Swiss laboratory accredited to ISO 17025 for photovoltaic module testing. Its experts actively participate in national and international technical committees.
